Merck is a global and one of the oldest pharmaceutical and chemical group, founded in 1668 with its head office based in Darmstadt Germany.
The history of Merck Pakistan began in 1962 with a small sales promotion office called “Emedia Export Company”, for the distribution of pharmaceutical and chemical products.
In 2016 Martin Dow Marker Ltd. came into being after Merck Pakistan divested its share to Martin Dow Group.
Martin Dow Marker Ltd has over 2000 employees with more than 60 brands in the healthcare division, all focused on providing high quality remedial options to the community.
The company markets well known brands in the therapeutic areas such as Diabetes and Cardiology, Primary Health Care and Vitamins, Neurology, Women Health, Consumer Health and Oncology.
Martin Dow Marker Ltd. produces quality products at its cGMP compliant manufacturing plants in Quetta and Karachi. Our continuous upgrading as per WHO guidelines ensures that our facilities remain state of the art and in line with international standards and guidelines.

He is recognized as the face of the Martin Dow Group and has received praise for his in-depth knowledge of numerous facets of the pharmaceutical industry.
After completing his Bachelor of Science business graduate degree (BSc) from Brunel University in the UK, he proceeded to further his education with a double Master's degree.
He holds a Master of Science in Global Business from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom and a Master of Science in International Business Development & Consulting from Novancia Business School in France.
He joined the Martin Dow Group of Companies in 2016 after completing a structured orientation program in Marketing, Finance, Business Development, Human Resources, and Regulatory Affairs. In 2017, he assumed the role of Business Development Lead, launching eight new items for the Group by mid-2018.
Ali is playing an essential role in shaping the future of the Martin Dow Group, carrying on his father's vision by guiding the group's foray into further diversification through successful strategic acquisitions and flexible technologies. Besides dedicating his time to grow the business, Ali is deeply involved in Philanthropic endeavours, he has taken on roles in 3 leading Healthcare institutions. He is the Core Committee Member of the Shaukat Khanum Karachi Project, a Member of the Fund-Raising Committee at The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) and a Trustee at the Memon Health & Education Foundation supporting and ensuring free quality healthcare service. He is also selected as the Youngest Global Leader from Pakistan for the year 2023 by the World Economic Forum.
With his impeccable leadership, he is now expanding the Martin Dow Group’s worldwide partnerships, talent development, and industry influence.
Javed is a Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Martin Dow Group, and under his leadership, the group has experienced unprecedented growth, including the acquisition of the Roche brands and manufacturing facility, leading the Group's growth further through his noteworthy insights.
He is a qualified fellow member of the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan, with over 25 years of experience leading in diversified functions such as Finance, Marketing, International Business, Business Development, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, New Product Development, and Technical Functions.
He has held key positions at a number of leading multinational and national companies, including Abbott Laboratories, Getz Pharma, Briogene, and AJ Research & Pharma (a Saudi Arabian subsidiary of the Al Jomiah Group), the latter two of which he served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
To his credit, he has grown AJ Pharma from a start-up to a global company with a strong presence in both prescription and consumer health markets across seven ASEAN and GCC countries. Under his guidance, the Martin Dow Group continues to grow and set new standards of distinction across the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry in Pakistan and abroad.
Nouman joined Martin Dow Marker Ltd. in December 1989 as a Scientific Promotion Officer. He has since climbed through the various management levels of our commercial organization, holding numerous senior positions.
He is currently the Chief Operating Officer, looking after Pharma and Trade Marketing. The pharmaceutical business has grown considerably under his leadership, resulting in phenomenal growth in both the top line and bottom line.
Furthermore, Martin Dow Marker Ltd. has exceeded targets and experienced improvements in productivity through his direction. He is an MBA in Marketing from IBA and holds extensive work experience spanning over 32 years in marketing and sales.
Inam leads the company’s Regulatory Affairs department. He is responsible for all regulatory matters related to imported products and those manufactured at Martin Dow Marker Sites at Quetta, Karachi, and Lahore. He also oversees matters pertaining to Life Science Business and products marketed through International Business.
In his career spanning 20 years in different companies like Sanofi, Pfizer, Parke Davis and Barret Hodgson, he has developed expertise in pricing,licensing, new product registration, medical devices registrations, nutraceuticals enlistments, quality and Product development.
He is a pharmacist by profession winning multiple accolades including a Gold medal from Merck group.
Since July 2020, Saad has been associated with the Martin Dow Group. He has almost two decades of experience in corporate reporting, data analysis, management accounting, and secretarial matters in various national and multinational companies both in Pakistan and abroad.
He is a gold medalist and fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and a member of Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA), UK. He is a certified director (Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance – PICG), Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), as well as a visiting faculty in the Institute of Business Administration (IBA).
Saad possesses excellent business acumen and has been instrumental in leading various strategic financial projects in the Martin Dow Group.
Nasir is the Technical Director of Quetta Karachi sites.
He Joined Martin Dow Marker Limited. (Merck pharmaceutical) in 2004 as production manager.
In 2008 he got the position of GM technical operation in 2011 and was promoted to the site director.
In 2022 became Director of technical operation. His experience in pharmaceutical operation is 33 years, of which 18 years were spent in soft gel manufacturing speciality.
He has made tremendous achievements in his career. Under his direct supervision, the company has achieved many milestones and produced 1.5 billion caps pa by having various capacity increased projects.
He started his carrier in 1989 at Efroz chemical and worked with various multinational companies like Boots knoll Abbot Wyeth.
Nasir holds a master's degree in organic chemistry and has also done various management courses and trainings in Pakistan and abroad.
Sarfaraz Khan has been associated with Martin Dow Marker since December 2010. with a diversified experience of more than 26 years in local and global markets in the field of Human Resources serving Pharma, Chemicals, and Service Sectors.
At Martin Dow Marker, he is engaged in HR Functions of Talent Management, Organization Development, Total Rewards, Industrial Relations, and Administration.
His strong people management and Leadership skills are an assurance for developing Future Leaders and making Martin Dow Marker Employer of Choice.
Tariq holds M.Sc. Degree in Analytical Chemistry from University of Karachi and has completed Management Development Program from Lahore University of Management Sciences – LUMS. Tariq has more than 30 years of experience on various positions in Managing overall Quality Operations of different national as well multinational Pharmaceutical companies. Most recently, he was associated with GSK Consumer Healthcare, Pakistan Ltd as Senior Manager Quality Operations. Prior to GSK Consumer Healthcare, Pakistan Ltd, he was associated with ATCO Laboratories, Getz Pharma, Roche Pakistan & Nabiqasim Industries. At Martin Dow Marker Ltd, he will be leading Quality Operations of Karachi & Quetta Sites as Key Business Partner to enable delivering company’s strategic and operational objectives and making our manufacturing facilities and products compliant with WHO quality standards.
Shahrukh joined the Martin Dow Group in 2020 and has since risen to the position of Chief People Officer for the group.
He has served as the Director of Human Resources for several organizations and holds over 20 years of experience working in Pakistan, the Middle East, and Africa. His career spans work for a number of prominent national and multinational organizations, including Getz Pharma, Abbott Laboratories Pakistan, Reckitt Benckiser Arabia, and DXB Entertainment
Shahrukh holds a Master's degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resources & Marketing. He is also a certified Leadership Coach from the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
